SMALL ENGINE REPAIR CURRICULUM

ATC7010 Small Engine Repair Curriculum

ATC7010  Small Engine Repair

Monday – Friday, Two Block Period, 18 Weeks

This 18-week Small Engine Repair course is designed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on skills in maintaining and repairing small engines. The course begins with foundational topics, such as engine components and operation, followed by in-depth studies of fuel, lubrication, and electrical systems. Students will engage in practical activities including disassembling and reassembling engines, diagnosing and troubleshooting common issues, and performing routine maintenance. Specific attention is given to engines used in Arctic environments, with specialized projects on ATVs, snowmobiles, and outboard motors. Students will learn to modify engines for optimal performance in extreme cold conditions and practice winterizing techniques. The course also includes advanced topics like rebuilding engines and understanding variable valve timing and fuel injection systems. Throughout, emphasis is placed on safety, precision, and the application of skills in real-world scenarios, culminating in final projects and practical exams to showcase their proficiency.
